For grown-ups
Photosynthesis takes place in the leaf. In the chloroplasts, chlorophyll absorbs light, and glucose is made from carbon dioxide and water, while oxygen is released. Gas exchange happens through the stomata, and the xylem and phloem in the veins bring in water and carry sugar away.
