The story for kids
This is Earth, our home. This is where we live, with our family, the animals, and the trees. Do you see the blue? Those are the seas and oceans. There's lots of water on Earth. And the white parts are the clouds. Earth spins around, like a spinning top. When our side faces the Sun, it's daytime, and when it turns away, it's night. One whole trip around the Sun takes one year, from one birthday to the next. And look, next to Earth is the Moon, our nighttime friend.

For grown-ups
This is Earth, our home. It is the only planet where, as far as we know, life exists. About seventy percent of Earth's surface is covered by water, which is why it looks blue from space. Earth turns once on its axis every twenty-four hours, and that is what gives us day and night. It completes one orbit of the Sun in one year, three hundred and sixty-five days. Earth's axis is tilted, and that tilt is what gives us the seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Look, the Moon is orbiting Earth. It is our only natural satellite.
